In February 1891, this incident was officially recorded in the British Armory Accounts. A sailor named James Bartley owned a ship called the Star of the East. His business was fishing. While he was going through the sea with his workers, suddenly a whale attacked his ship. Whale turns the whole ship upside down so the sailors were also turnover. Later all were rescued. But ship owner Bartley himself was not found. But the next day the whale was found dead and floating on the sea. The whale's dead body was cut into pieces, and suddenly a stuck shoe got found in one of the parts of the whale's body, then after removing the upper layer of skin carefully Bartley was found. Fortunately, he was alive but unconscious. His vision was affected. He could not even walk or talk properly. After a few days, his condition improved considerably. 

All he could remember was that he entered the huge jaws of the whale and moved forward through the channel. Before him, there was all darkness, and at the same time he lost his memory

फरवरी 1891 में, यह घटना आधिकारिक तौर पर ब्रिटिश शस्त्रागार खातों में दर्ज की गई थी। जेम्स बार्टले नाम के एक नाविक के पास स्टार ऑफ़ द ईस्ट नामक एक जहाज था। उनका व्यवसाय मछली पकड़ना था। जब वह अपने कार्यकर्ताओं के साथ समुद्र से जा रहा था, तभी अचानक एक व्हेल ने उसके जहाज पर हमला कर दिया। व्हेल पूरे जहाज का ऊपरनीचे  करती है। तो नाविक भी ऊपरनीचे हो गए  । बाद में सभी को रेस्क्यू किया गया। लेकिन जहाज के मालिक बार्टले खुद नहीं मिले। लेकिन अगले दिन व्हेल मरी हुई और समुद्र में तैरती हुई पाई गई। उसके मृत शरीर को टुकड़ों में काट दिया गया था, और अचानक एक अटका हुआ जूता व्हेल के शरीर के एक हिस्से में मिला, फिर सावधानी से त्वचा की ऊपरी परत को हटाने के बाद बार्टली मिला। सौभाग्य से, वह जीवित था लेकिन बेहोश था। उनकी दृष्टि प्रभावित हुई। वह ठीक से चल भी नहीं पा रहा था और बात भी नहीं कर पा रहा था। कुछ दिनों के बाद उनकी हालत में काफी सुधार हुआ।

 उसे केवल इतना ही याद था कि वह व्हेल के विशाल जबड़ों में घुस गया था और चैनल के माध्यम से आगे बढ़ गया था। उसके सामने सारा अंधेरा था, और उसी समय उसने अपनी याददाश्त खो दी।
